Diorama
Modeling & Animation

Project Overview
This was a solo project that loosely follows the pwnisher's marble machine YouTube challenge. It took approximately 6 weeks to complete and I gained a load of modeling and animation experience from it.

The challenge was to create a looping animation of a marble passing through a box, interacting with different sections along the way. The length of the animation was set to ca 10 seconds.
Modeling
For this project I wanted to create a cozy feeling with a bit of a whimsical side to it. I worked a lot with contrasting themes - the warm fall environment versus the cold cave - but I tried to tie them together in a way that felt natural.

For the modeling process I started off with sketching and whiteboxing the meshes that I wanted to be included.
Rigging
Some of the meshes where supposed to squish down, wobble or swim so they required rigging. The rigs for this project were very simple FK-chains.
Animating
This was the most fun part of the project! I got to experiment and make the entire diorama come to life. Working with a short animation meant every movement had to be timed and purposeful, but still look believable.

My favorite part is the poor mushroom boy getting hit by the ball on his head.
Rendering
The particles, final rendering and post processing was done in Unity.
